Spud

The spud is the brass fitting that is designed to attach inside the china bowl, leaving the threads exposed, for the flush pipe to connect to. By tightening down the lock nut, the spud washer is forced to expand into the hole in the china bowl and makes a tight seal. Spuds come in several different sizes but for a low tank bowl the only size needed is a 2”x 2”. Other sizes are: 2” x 1-1/2”, 2” x 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” x 1-1/2”, 1-1/2” x 1-1/4”, 1-1/4” x 1-1/4”, 1-1/4” x ¾” and 1” x ¾”. These sizes are used to attach high tanks and flushometers to bowls, and the two smaller sizes are used for urinals.

Slip Nuts

Slip nuts are used to connect tubular pipes to other tubular pipes or to IPS (threaded) fittings. They are available in various sizes, ranging from 2" to 1-1/4". The best slip nuts are made of solid brass, either cast brass or rod brass, and are plated with the desired finish. We do not recommend installing cheaper metallic slip nuts that are die-cast. Additionally, plastic slip nuts are suitable for use with plastic tubular pipe.
